Dynamic table
A dynamic table shows rows of data, with pagination, sorting and reordering included.
When to use
- Tabular data too long for one screen, which people work through page by page.
- Data people will sort or page through rather than read from start to end.
When not to use
- A short set that fits on one page. Pagination adds nothing there.
- A set too large to page through. Offer search and filters first.
- A feed people browse. Load more as they scroll instead.
Content
What to write, and what to leave out.
- Show the range near the control, as in 21 to 40 of 156, so people know where they are.
- Keep column labels the same on every page, so the layout does not shift.
